The Best Thing Happened This Year

Ok, so my very good close dearest friends from California came to visit me! (Chie speaking)
;
I had so much fun hanging out with them, and made me miss the time in California.  My friends, Christi Ng and Judy Lee, who are from the church we used to attend :) when we were in California, came up here to spend some time with us, mainly for me.

Downtown Seattle, in front of the Pike Place Market.  Christi, me and Judy

Christi has even come to my hometown in Japan, and we have developed very close relationship over years serving in the same church.  She has been a huge encouragement to me for many years, and I cherish our friendship so very much.  I can share anything with her, and feel very, very comfortable being around her, and so does she (if you know what I mean).  I realized how much I miss laughing with, joking with, sharing with her.  Christi, I love you very much!!!  Since Tim and Christi are close too, (they went to some short-term mission trips to Japan, and used to hang out in college) I feel she is a part of our family, oh wait, she is.

And Judy.  This time, it was a little different.  She had a cold right before she came up here, and almost whole time she was here, she did not have voice.  So she would whisper and I needed to listen very closely.  But the time I got to spent with her was very meaningful.  She also has been one of  my closest friends, and I think because we are, in a lot of ways, alike, and she understands alot of me.  The conversation with her sometimes brought some tears to my eyes... I was very surprised myself that there was something that I could cry over...and reminded me of the importance of a special girlfriend like her.  I love her very dearly, -in case you couldn't tell. :)

Who wants to be a Guitar Hero?

I got Tim a PS II game called Guitar Hero II for Christmas, and we all rocked out... these pictures below will show you personalities in each of us...

Judy was shy at first.....but she rocked it out!!!!

The other fellow rockers....

The Visit with the Burns (our mom and dad)

They got to visit mom and dad.  They were very thoughtful.  Christi brought some CDs for mom to listen to, mostly hymns, and Judy brought a comfy sweatsuit for her.  They also had some encouraging letters from the church.
Since mom has met them in several occasions, it was a great encouragement for her to see them here.

Thank you girls for coming visiting them...

The Settlers

Thanks to my sister and brother in law, Tim and Erin Fulton, we finally got our own Settlers for Christmas.  So we decided to play, although Judy was very hesitant to play, because she "doesn't like this game much," and evidently she has never or seldom win this game.
The game was going great, I thought I could win... but needed to watch out Christi and Tim, they were building roads, getting development cards and stuff.  Judy? Oh no, she looked so sick and weak, (and quiet) she wasn't even a rival to me.  I just needed to focus on how I can destroy Tim and Christi's plans.  I trusted Judy's whispering voice saying, "Chie, I think you're gonna win."  Well, at least I tried.

Then, I don't know happened.  It happened very quickly....  You see with your own eyes who won this game...

A picture can tell you more than a thousand words....

I couldn't believe it!!  She was the one who was hesitant to play, cheering me up for winning (well so Christi and Tim kept attacking me though), and sick without voice...

Mitsuki was shocked, too!

After the game, now we know the fact that she loves this game.  She was crazy taking pictures of how she won.

Congratulations, Judy!!!

The Snow Day

Then, it snowed!!! Judy and Christi were very excited to see snow in town.  But we were stuck in the house on that day, pretty much all day!!!

Korean, Chinese, and Japanese in snow, oh aren't we cute...

I was very encouraged to have them here.  I want to personally thank Christi and Judy for being such awesome, sweet friends, and want to thank Richard (Judy's hubby) for giving her up for a couple days for me. You guys are great!  And thank you all who thoughtfully wrote us encouraging letters, Micaiah, Mimi, we loved your cards!!! We miss you very much, too!!  Ok, it started to sound like Golden Gloves' winner speech, so I better stop.

P.S.
They brought some pictures up here, and made us miss our family at CBC even more...  We love and miss you guys!
Here are some of the family members;

Sorry this has gotten kinda long!

Something for Mom

So, we have set up another website for updates and people who want to write encouraging words, verses, whatever for our mom.

http://xanga.com/theburnsfamily

Please feel free to drop off anything that may be encouraging to her.  We will also update her condition as much as we can.

Our mom, Ellen, has had cancer on and off for over 13 years.  God has graciously given her so many blessings in her life.  We just have heard last Tuesday that the cancer in her liver is taken over, and there is nothing they can do at this point.  So they told her that she has "some months" to live.  It was very difficult to hear that news, even though we thought that day would come someday.  The doctor told her that she wouldn't have much pain as she is dying, she will be very drowsy and sleep alot and one day she won't wake up and stand in the presence of our Lord.  We will update this as often as possible to let you know how God is refining her and our faith.

She is struggling.  She has some pain and takes some medicine.  Also she is struggling with the desire to live longer and to be with her family more.  Please pray for her for strength that she needs physically and spiritually.  And pray for us that we would encourage and remind her more of her hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, and ultimately and most importantly for that God will be glorified and honored through.

"As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
Even after my [her] skin is destroyed, yet from my [her] flesh I [she] shall see God;
Whom I myself [she herself] shall behold, and whom my [her] eyes will see and not another."
-Job 19:25-27

Thanks for your support and prayers, they truly have encouraged our family greatly.
